Issue Position: Energy Policy

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

America's energy policies should be designed to address two priorities - economic growth and energy independence.

The U.S. economy should not be manipulated by member nations of OPEC especially those that have hostile attitude towards America. Our energy policy should be focused on containing fuel prices instead of prioritizing incentives for alternative fuel sources.

While many alternative energy sources have great promise and should be explored, those sources should be developed through the free-market system, not through government influence on the markets. Our government should not force the taxpayers and consumers to pay these costs.

I will fight the regulatory frameworks that are now preventing the United States from becoming energy independent. As your U.S. Senator, I will support the energy initiatives such as:

* Building the Keystone Pipeline

* Opening new U.S. territories to responsible and safe oil and gas production

* Expanding natural gas production through "fracking"

* Reducing the EPA powers that stifle our energy production and increase production cost
